This dual circuit cabinet air conditioner is specified for electrical enclosures where cooling availability must be maintained during maintenance or in the event of a single component failure. The unit contains two independent refrigeration circuits within a single casing, each with its own compressor, condenser coil, expansion valve, and service ports.

The configuration is intended for cabinets where a full cooling outage is not acceptable, including drive lineups supporting continuous process, rectifier banks in utility installations, and power distribution sections where cabinet shutdown requires coordinated plant outage. Where standard single-circuit units would require a complete cooling stoppage for compressor service, this unit allows one circuit to be isolated while the other continues operating.

Commercial and Technical Advantages

N+1 redundancy in one casing Two independent refrigeration circuits provide redundancy without doubling the cabinet wall area or requiring two separate units, mounting cutouts, and power feeds. One casing, one controller, two circuits.
Circuit isolation for service Each circuit has ball valves on both suction and liquid lines plus dedicated service ports. One circuit can be evacuated and serviced while the other continues cooling. No cabinet shutdown required for routine refrigeration work.
Automatic lead/lag rotation Controller alternates lead and lag circuits based on runtime hours, equalizing compressor wear across the two circuits. Runtime hours per circuit logged and accessible via communication interface.
Verified single-circuit capacity Each unit is factory tested with both circuits active and with each circuit isolated in turn. Single-circuit capacity is measured and recorded on the test sheet, released only where ≥ 65% of nominal.
Per-circuit monitoring Modbus RTU registers expose suction and discharge pressure per circuit, compressor status, alarm codes, and runtime hours. Dry-contact relay per circuit for connection to existing annunciator panels.
Service parts program Compressors, EC fans, controllers, expansion valves, and pressure switches held as service parts for a minimum of 10 years. Each circuit's components stocked separately for maintenance planning.

Operating Principle

1 Common evaporator Both circuits share a single evaporator section and air path. Cooled air is distributed through one ducting set regardless of which circuits are active.
2 Parallel circuits Each circuit evaporates refrigerant in its own section of the coil, then rejects heat through its own condenser coil and fan set. The circuits do not share refrigerant paths.
3 Controller arbitration The controller modulates each circuit independently based on load, and rotates lead/lag assignment on runtime hours. If one circuit faults, the remaining circuit ramps to its maximum output.
4 Service isolation Ball valves isolate the faulty circuit at both suction and liquid lines. The remaining circuit continues cooling while the isolated circuit is evacuated, repaired, and recharged.

Deployment Contexts

01 Continuous process drive lineups Cabinet sections supporting production lines where a cooling outage would force process shutdown. One circuit can be serviced during scheduled maintenance while the cabinet remains energized and cooled.
02 Utility rectifier installations Rectifier and converter banks at substations where cooling equipment maintenance requires coordination with grid operations. Circuit isolation allows staged maintenance without a full cabinet outage.
03 Remote and unmanned sites Sites where maintenance access is limited to scheduled visits. Redundancy allows a circuit fault to be carried until the next planned visit without interrupting cabinet cooling.
04 High thermal load cabinets Enclosures where total dissipation requires combined capacity above the range of single-circuit units, and where two separate wall-mounted units would exceed available panel area.

Selection and Installation Notes

Redundancy sizing For N+1 redundancy, size combined capacity so that single-circuit output covers the calculated cabinet load. Where single-circuit output is below the load, the installation is considered N (not N+1) and should be documented as such.
Structural support At 118 kg, the unit requires reinforced mounting. Minimum panel thickness 2.5mm steel, or a load-distributing frame. Provide cabinet structural details for review where the panel is below this thickness.
Power and protection Dedicated 3-pole breaker, 25 A C-curve. Copper conductors 6 mm² per phase. Grounding resistance ≤ 2 Ω. External Type 1+2 surge protection recommended for exposed outdoor installations.
Clearance Maintain 400mm at the condenser inlet and 600mm at the discharge. Where two units are mounted adjacent, stagger at 90° or provide additional separation to prevent condenser air recirculation between units.
Refrigerant handling R454C is classified A2L (mildly flammable). Service must follow local regulations for A2L refrigerants, including ventilation, leak detection, and technician certification. Each circuit is charged and evacuated independently.
Maintenance interval Filter inspection monthly in dusty plants. Condenser coil cleaning quarterly. Annual check of refrigerant charge per circuit, pressure switch operation, and electrical torque values. Verify lead/lag rotation is functioning.

Procurement FAQ

Each unit is run with both circuits active, then with each circuit isolated in turn while the other operates. Cooling capacity at single-circuit operation is measured and recorded on the test sheet. Units are released only where recorded capacity is at least 65% of nominal. The test record is supplied with the unit.

Yes. Each circuit has isolation ball valves on suction and liquid lines plus independent service ports. One circuit can be evacuated and serviced while the other continues operating. This is the principal reason the dual circuit configuration is specified for cabinets where shutdown is not practical.

The controller tracks runtime hours per circuit and alternates the lead assignment at configurable intervals. This equalizes compressor wear across both circuits. Runtime hours per circuit are logged and accessible via the communication interface. Rotation can be disabled where a specific circuit is preferred as lead.

Dimensional drawing, wiring diagram, capacity table including derating curve, refrigerant data sheet per circuit, Modbus register map covering both circuits, mounting template, declaration of conformity, and factory test record including single-circuit capacity measurement.

The casing platform supports combined capacities from 3500W to 5500W with the same external dimensions and mounting pattern. Where the calculated load falls below 4500W, a lower-capacity configuration can be specified without changing the installation envelope.

Standard warranty is 24 months from commissioning or 30 months from shipment. Compressor coverage extends to 60 months per circuit. Service parts including compressors, EC fans, controllers, expansion valves, and pressure switches are held for a minimum of 10 years from manufacture.
