This stainless steel cabinet air conditioner is specified for enclosures exposed to corrosive atmospheres where coated carbon steel casings would deteriorate within the service life of the installation. Applications include coastal telecom and monitoring cabinets, chemical and petrochemical plant enclosures, food and beverage processing areas subject to washdown, and wastewater treatment facilities with hydrogen sulphide exposure.

The casing is formed from 304 stainless steel as standard, with 316L available for chloride-rich or acidic environments. Fasteners are A4-80 grade throughout, and the condenser coil carries an electro-deposition coating to protect the aluminium fins where the casing cannot. The enclosure is rated IP55, with gasketed access panels and sealed cable entries.

Commercial and Technical Advantages

Formed stainless casing Casing, access panels, and mounting flanges formed from 1.5mm stainless sheet. Welded corners and folded edges rather than riveted joints, reducing crevice points where corrosion initiates.
A4-80 fasteners throughout All external and internal fasteners are A4-80 stainless, avoiding the dissimilar-metal couple that occurs when coated steel screws are used in a stainless casing. Coil mounting hardware is isolated where contact with aluminium occurs.
Coated condenser coil Condenser and evaporator coils carry an electro-deposition coating over the aluminium fins. This addresses the component that remains aluminium regardless of casing grade, and is the most common corrosion failure point in coastal installations.
Sealed cable entries Cable glands in stainless or nickel-plated brass with EPDM seals. Gaskets are silicone rather than foam, selected for resistance to UV, ozone, and chemical exposure over the service life.
Washdown-compatible drainage Condensate is evaporated internally as standard. Where washdown procedures introduce water into the cabinet, an optional stainless drain kit with a check valve routes water out without allowing ingress during cleaning.
Material certification Mill certificates for the casing sheet grade available with each order, supporting project documentation where material traceability is required by specification or by the facility operator.

Deployment Contexts

01 Coastal and offshore cabinets Telecom, monitoring, and control cabinets on coastlines, ports, and offshore platforms where salt-laden air and wind-driven spray cause rapid deterioration of coated carbon steel.
02 Chemical and petrochemical plants Enclosures in process areas with acid vapour, chlorine, or solvent exposure, where 316L casing and silicone gaskets are specified in place of painted steel.
03 Food and beverage washdown areas Cabinets in hygienic zones cleaned with detergents and chlorinated sanitisers, where stainless casing permits washdown and resists the corrosion associated with cleaning chemicals.
04 Wastewater and water treatment Cabinets in treatment plants with hydrogen sulphide and high humidity, where stainless construction and sealed cable entries address the corrosion and moisture conditions simultaneously.

Selection and Installation Notes

Grade selection Select 316L where chloride exposure is sustained or where cleaning chemicals contain chlorides. 304 is adequate for inland industrial environments without sustained chloride contact. Provide the site exposure category for evaluation where the classification is unclear.
Dissimilar metal contact Where the cabinet itself is galvanised or painted steel, isolate the stainless unit from the cabinet using the supplied insulating gasket to prevent a galvanic couple. This is particularly relevant on coastal installations.
Cleaning regime Stainless is resistant rather than immune. Periodic rinsing of the casing to remove deposited chloride salts extends service life on coastal installations. Avoid chloride-based cleaning agents on 304 casings.
Structural support At 78 kg, the unit requires reinforced mounting. Minimum panel thickness 2.0mm steel, or a load-distributing frame. Where mounted on stainless cabinets, use the supplied stainless hardware rather than substituted fasteners.
Refrigerant handling R454C is classified A2L (mildly flammable). Service must follow local regulations for A2L refrigerants, including ventilation, leak detection, and technician certification. Each circuit is charged independently.
Maintenance interval Filter inspection every 2 to 3 months. Condenser coil cleaning quarterly, more frequently on coastal sites where salt deposits accumulate. Annual inspection of gaskets, cable glands, and casing for pitting or crevice corrosion.

Procurement FAQ

Select 316L where the site has sustained chloride exposure, such as coastal locations within roughly 5 km of the shoreline, or where cleaning chemicals contain chlorides. Select 304 for inland industrial environments without sustained chloride contact. Where the exposure category is between the two, 316L is the lower-risk choice and carries an 18% to 25% cost premium.

The coil fins are aluminium with an electro-deposition coating, not stainless. A full stainless coil would substantially increase cost and reduce thermal performance. The coated aluminium coil is the standard approach for coastal installations; for C5 and CX exposure, an upgraded coil coating is available as an option.

Yes. Mill certificates for the casing sheet grade are available with each order, supporting specifications that require material traceability. Certificate requests should be noted on the purchase order. Certificates are issued per production batch, not per unit.

The IP55 rating covers low-pressure water jets from any direction, which suits normal washdown procedures. High-pressure jets directed at gaskets or cable entries should be avoided. For installations using high-pressure cleaning, specify the NEMA 4X configuration and route the optional drain kit.

Dimensional drawing, wiring diagram, capacity table, refrigerant data sheet, Modbus register map, mounting template, declaration of conformity under LVD and EMC directives, and salt spray test report for the casing grade. Mill certificates available on request.

Standard warranty is 24 months from commissioning or 30 months from shipment. Compressor coverage extends to 60 months. Casing corrosion is covered where the specified grade matches the documented site exposure category. Service parts including compressors, EC fans, controllers, and gasket sets are held for a minimum of 10 years.
